With a $25 million gift, Shumway and wife Carrie are supporting the joint life sciences MS/MBA program at Harvard Business School that took its first 11 students in August.

Eric Grubman and John Collins have formed a special purpose acquisition company (SPAC) targeting the sports and entertainment sectors. Sports Entertainment Acquisition Corp, which also counts US investor Chris Shumway as a co-founder, filed with the securities and exchange commission (SEC) on 14th September for an initial public offering (IPO) it hopes will raise as much as US$350 million.

The gift from his foundation will support faculty and new programs at the University of Virginia’s McIntire School of Commerce, from which Shumway graduated in 1988.
